Recently, the commencement ceremony was held for the Simandou Project's Simfer S.A. mining operation and maintenance project in Guinea, jointly undertaken by Chalco International Engineering Co., Ltd. and China Railway 19th Bureau Group Co., Ltd. Located in the Republic of Guinea, West Africa, the Simandou iron ore mine is one of the world's largest high-grade hematite mines. Blocks 3 and 4 of the project are being developed by Simfer S.A., the concession holder (a joint venture formed by the Guinean government, Rio Tinto Group, and Chalco Group), with annual production capacity expected to gradually increase to 60 million mt.
Chalco International Engineering Co., Ltd. will provide ore mining and stripping services for the project, along with the construction and maintenance of related transport roads and infrastructure. It is reported that the project was awarded in April this year, with the contract formally signed at month-end June. After nearly four months of rapid mobilization, relevant equipment and personnel have successively arrived on site.
The successful launch of the Simandou mining operation and maintenance project marks a breakthrough in Chalco International Engineering Co., Ltd.'s overseas mine operation and maintenance business.
