On August 28, Luca Mining announced it has acquired a 100% interest in the Humaya 3 mining concession from Fresnillo for US$400,000. The 2,507-hectare concession directly surrounds the Tahuehueto Mine in Durango, Mexico, expanding Luca’s land package there by more than 25% to roughly 10,000 hectares.

The concession carries no underlying royalties and is expected to play a central role in near-term exploration. CEO Dan Barnholden said the acquisition strengthens Luca’s growth strategy, while VP Exploration Paul Gray noted that key mineralized veins, including the Santiago vein currently under drilling, are interpreted to extend directly onto the new ground, making it a high-priority exploration target.
