SMM August 29 News:
In the complex and ever-changing market environment, inventory, as a crucial indicator of supply-demand relationships, serves as a key reference for investors to judge price trends. Against the backdrop of SMM’s well-established tracking of visible lead-zinc inventories, the market has turned increasing attention to the existence of hidden inventories. To reduce the interference of hidden inventories on the assessment of market supply and demand, SMM is now launching Singapore’s refined zinc (lead) import and export data. Starting from Singapore—home to Asia’s core delivery warehouses—we will gradually improve the global lead-zinc hidden inventory monitoring system, providing the industry with a more comprehensive tool for dynamic inventory tracking!
I. How to Use Singapore’s Refined Zinc (Lead) Import and Export Data?
As the location of LME (London Metal Exchange)’s core Asian delivery warehouses, Singapore accounts for an extremely small share of the world’s downstream lead-zinc consumption industries. Instead, it mainly functions as a transit hub for lead-zinc trade, with its lead-zinc warehouse stocks accounting for over 90% of the total overseas LME zinc ingot inventories. Therefore, market participants can compare the difference between Singapore’s import and export data with changes in LME Singapore’s lead-zinc inventory data to roughly determine the trend of local hidden inventory changes
II. Significance of Using Singapore’s Refined Zinc (Lead) Import and Export Data
Investment Institutions: By monitoring Singapore’s hidden inventories and combining insights from visible inventory data, institutions can accurately assess the global supply-demand pattern and identify more investment opportunities.
Smelting Enterprises: Enterprises can more precisely judge price trends, optimize their production schedules and procurement-sales strategies, and avoid inventory overstocking.
Downstream Enterprises: Enterprises can gain a deeper understanding of the global supply landscape, adjust the pace of raw material procurement, and improve capital turnover efficiency.
III. Release Schedule of Singapore’s Refined Zinc (Lead) Import and Export Data
Singapore’s import and export data is updated on a monthly basis, and SMM will refresh the data at the end of each month.
