SMM, August 20,

According to customs data, China's aluminum profile exports (HS codes: 76041010, 76041090, 76042100, 76042910, 76042990) reached 84,200 mt in July 2025, up 18.72% MoM but down 6.72% YoY.

Breakdown by export origin:

By export origin, the top three provinces were Guangdong (52.55%), Shandong (16.33%), and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (5.56%).

Top export markets:

By destination, Nigeria ranked first with an 8.28% share, followed by Israel (7.99%) and Vietnam (7.80%). SMM survey indicated that enterprises in Zhejiang, Hunan, and South China expanded into emerging markets such as South America and Africa, where construction material demand shows strong potential, effectively supporting July's export performance.

Market dynamics and Forecast:

Overall, the recent US decision to impose 50% tariffs on 407 steel and aluminum product categories may impact total aluminum semis exports. However, China's primary export markets remain Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Customs data showed that only 500 mt (0.59%) of aluminum extrusions were shipped to the US in July. Amid severe "rat race" competition in processing fees, some companies actively explored overseas markets. For instance, PV frame and solar panel mounting bracket exports from Anhui and Fujian remained relatively stable. A top-tier enterprise in eastern China reported increased construction-material extrusion shipments to Southeast Asia, but due to weak real estate demand, it recommended focusing on deep-processed products for the EU market. As the industry transitions between peak and off-peak seasons in August, some firms noted improved orders, suggesting export volumes may maintain growth momentum.

Fed to Keep Large Banks' Capital Levels Unchanged, Postpones Stress Test Reforms Until 2027
The US Fed has announced that it will maintain the capital levels of large banks unchanged during the upcoming stress test cycle (corresponding to the 2026 cycle). At the same time, the US Fed is planning multidimensional reforms to this annual test, aiming to enhance its transparency. The US Fed's Vice Chair for Supervision, Bowman, revealed that adjustments to the stress capital buffer requirements for large banks will be postponed until 2027. This move is intended to provide the US Fed with sufficient time to evaluate potential flaws that may be exposed in its testing models when assessing banks' financial conditions under simulated economic downturn scenarios.
