In August 2025, the solid-state battery market reached a critical development period. The launch of SAIC's MG4 semi-solid-state battery EV has drawn significant attention to the solid-state battery sector, potentially rewriting the mass production timetable. Domestic and overseas companies have achieved notable progress in technological R&D and project advancement.

Domestically, companies like EVE, Gotion High-tech, and Farasis Energy have made smooth progress in solid-state battery R&D and industrialisation. EVE plans to launch an all-solid-state battery with an energy density of 350Wh/kg in 2026. Gotion High-tech's JinShi all-solid-state battery pilot line has achieved a yield rate of 90%. Farasis Energy has completed sample deliveries to a leading humanoid robot client and plans to establish a 0.2GWh pilot line by the end of 2025. Material companies such as Canmax and Ronbay Technology have made breakthroughs in cathode materials and solid-state electrolytes, while Ganfeng LiEnergy has achieved remarkable results in integrated solid-state battery supply chain layout.

Overseas, SolidPower is collaborating with BMW and SK On to advance solid-state battery mass production. Nissan is partnering with LiCAP Technologies to develop dry cathode production processes, targeting the launch of solid-state battery EVs by 2028.

Technological breakthroughs continue to emerge. Ronbay Technology has improved the stability of sulphide electrolyte materials through doping processes. Lead Intelligent Equipment has mastered the mass production process for all-solid-state batteries. Narada Power has developed an ultra-high nickel ternary + silicon carbon anode battery system with an energy density of 350Wh/kg.

Project implementation is accelerating. Jiangsu Yicai New Energy has commenced production of its sulphide solid-state electrolyte project. Tailan New Energy is establishing an all-solid-state battery production site in Hubei. Shenzhen Xintou Energy is constructing a 3GWh solid-state battery project in Guizhou. Belgium's Evesta Holdings has signed an agreement with Jiangsu Jintan to build a GWh-scale solid-state battery production line.

Market demand is clear. Strong demand for solid-state batteries exists in high-end NEVs, low-altitude economy, and ESS sectors. Automakers like GAC and Changan plan to install all-solid-state batteries from 2026 to 2027. Farasis Energy and Ganfeng Lithium's solid-state batteries have been applied in eVTOL aircraft, while Narada Power has won a UK ESS project bid. Looking ahead, in the short term (2024-2026), semi-solid-state batteries are expected to become the standard for high-end EVs. In the medium term (2027-2030), all-solid-state batteries are anticipated to achieve small-scale mass production and vehicle integration. In the long term (post-2030), the cost of all-solid-state batteries is projected to decrease significantly, gradually penetrating the mainstream market and reshaping the lithium battery industry landscape.
