Canada's Black Iron Inc. has commenced the application process for the permits required to mine iron ore at the Shymanovske deposit in Kryvyi Rih. The large open-pit mine is planned to measure 660 meters by 390 meters, with a depth of 80 meters. Annual production is expected to reach 4.5 million mt of ore.

The anticipated capital investment for the first phase of the project is $452 million, and $364 million for the second phase. The Shymanovske deposit has the potential to become a significant source of iron ore, particularly given its proximity to major mining and metallurgical enterprises, including ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.
