Grange Resources plans to transition its Savage River iron ore operation from open-pit mining to underground mining (block caving method) to reduce its carbon footprint and achieve its 2035 net-zero emissions target. The project is expected to cost over $900 million, with a final investment decision anticipated by year-end. This operational shift is projected to reduce the mining workforce by approximately two-thirds, affecting 450 employees.
