Cobalt chloride prices increased, but trading sentiment remained lukewarm

This week, the cobalt chloride market price remained at 65,000-67,000 yuan/mt, with the average transaction price around 64,500 yuan/mt. There is a clear divergence in the market's outlook for future trends, especially regarding DRC policies in September, where expectations about lifting bans and quota arrangements vary significantly. Upstream smelters generally believe that supply will remain tight in H2, leading to strong sentiment against selling, which has pushed prices up continuously. Since August, the rebound in end-use demand has driven an increase in Co3O4 purchases, thereby supporting cobalt chloride prices. Cobalt chloride prices are expected to remain stable next week.
