Prices range from 335,000 yuan to 375,000 yuan, positioning the SUV in China's mid-to-large premium off-road segment.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 27, Great Wall Motor ("GWM") officially put the all-new TANK 500 model onto the market, rolling out four trim levels with both PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) and ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicle variants. Prices range from 335,000 yuan to 375,000 yuan, positioning the SUV in China's mid-to-large premium off-road segment.

The redesign takes inspiration from traditional Chinese architecture, with details echoing elements such as palace lanterns and bracket sets. Measuring 5,078 mm in length with a 2,850 mm wheelbase, the model is configured as a five-seater SUV. Buyers can choose from several paint finishes, including a standout "Dunhuang Green."

Inside, the cabin emphasizes comfort and technology. Rear passengers benefit from a 17.3-inch 3K ceiling-mounted entertainment screen, while a 5.4L fridge offers both cooling and heating from -6°C to 50°C. Leather seats come with heating and ventilation in both rows; the driver's seat adds massage functionality, with eight-point massage available for other seats as an option.

Technology upgrades include a 15.6-inch 2.5K central display supporting multi-screen interaction, alongside Huawei HiCar, Carlink, and Apple CarPlay. Voice commands now extend to seat adjustments, while onboard conveniences such as 50W wireless phone charging and even an in-car karaoke system further enhance the experience.

All variants come equipped with GWM's latest Coffee Pilot Ultra driver-assist platform. The system integrates 27 sensors, including a LiDAR unit, three millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars. It enables functions such as city and highway NOA (navigation on autopilot) as well as parking-to-parking guidance. The intelligent parking suite offers automatic space selection, memory parking, remote operation, and reverse tracing.

For audio, the SUV adopts the Coffee AI Sound system with 14 speakers, including two integrated into the front headrests, powered by a 960W amplifier. It supports several modes tailored for the driver, including navigation-focused, immersive, and concentration settings.

Under the hood, the all-new TANK 500 adopts a "one car, three powertrains" strategy. The upgraded Hi4-T version pairs a longitudinal 2.0T engine with a 9AT transmission and an electric motor delivering 130 kW and 495 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. Equipped with adaptive four-wheel drive, a multi-plate clutch, and a rear differential lock, it maintains strong off-road capability. A 37.1 kWh battery provides 110 km of battery-powered range (WLTC) and a combined range of 790 km, with 103 kW fast charging support and fuel consumption of 8.8L/100 km when depleted.

The Hi4-Z variant also uses a 2.0T engine but is built on an 800V platform with a dual-motor setup and 3DHT transmission. It produces a combined 455 kW and 1,195 Nm of torque, enabling 0–100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds. A 59.05 kWh battery delivers 201 km of battery-powered range and 1,096 km in combined range. Fast charging from 30% to 80% of battery capacity takes only 15 minutes.

The oil-fueled version edition carries a 3.0T V6 engine producing 265 kW and 500 Nm. True to its off-road heritage, the TANK 500 features a body-on-frame construction across all trims, supported by low-range four-wheel drive, crawl control, and the signature "tank turn" function.
