Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 27, Chinese new energy vehicle maker XPENG officially put the all-new P7 battery electric sedan, onto the market, rolling out sweeping upgrades in intelligence, powertrain, and safety while unveiling aggressive pricing.

The lineup includes four variants: the 702 Ultra long-range version priced at 219,800 yuan, the 820 Ultra super-long-range at 239,800 yuan, the 750 Ultra all-wheel-drive performance version at 259,800 yuan, and the top-end 750 Ultra Wing Edition with scissor doors at 301,800 yuan.

While retaining its coupe-like stance, the refreshed P7 adds greater customization with six body colors and three interior themes. Inside, the cabin is fitted with a 23-speaker 7.1.4 surround sound system and re-engineered seating for improved comfort and support. Generous storage space and a triple-layer silver-coated panoramic roof with SGS-certified sun protection enhance both practicality and premium appeal.

Technology is at the heart of this upgrade. The sedan is powered by XPENG's in-house Turing AI chip, delivering up to 2,250 TOPS of computing power, and integrates the company's VLA (Vision-Language-Action) large model with the VLM (Vision-Language Models)-enabled smart cabin system. The VLA driver-assist platform works without relying on connectivity, recognizing obstacles such as flooded roads and pedestrian blind spots while enabling human-machine co-driving at speeds of up to 130 km/h.

Inside, the VLM cabin butler introduces proactive interaction features, including a first-in-industry four-zone external voice control system. XPENG will push the VLA software via OTA in September, while VLM hardware upgrades will be available free of charge in November.

Safety has also been reinforced with four major innovations. The body structure is produced using a 16,000-tonne die-casting process, achieving exceptional torsional rigidity of 43,000 Nm/deg. For active protection, the model debuts a next-generation AEB system capable of emergency braking at speeds up to 130 km/h, along with a world-first AES emergency steering assist tailored for icy and slippery conditions, adding security in extreme weather.

Performance remains a core strength. The high-performance edition accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and clocked a lap record of 1:38.767 at Zhejiang Circuit. Built on an 800V SiC high-voltage platform, the sedan delivers up to 820-km CLTC-rated range and supports ultra-fast charging that adds 525 km of driving range in just 10 minutes, easing both range and charging anxiety.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
