The collaboration will leverage Alibaba's Tongyi Qianwen (Qwen) large language models to create robotic systems with enhanced cognitive, decision-making, and interactive capabilities.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Joyson Electronics recently announced a wide-ranging artificial intelligence partnership with Alibaba Cloud through its subsidiary, Joyson Embodied Intelligence, as the two companies seek to advance the next generation of humanoid and service robots.

According to a press release Joyson Electronics issued on Aug. 26 via its WeChat account, the collaboration will leverage Alibaba's Tongyi Qianwen (Qwen) large language models to create robotic systems with enhanced cognitive, decision-making, and interactive capabilities. These robots are expected to be deployed across diverse applications, from industrial manufacturing and healthcare to specialized operational scenarios. The partners also plan to develop turnkey solutions tailored for overseas markets.

The move comes as the automotive and robotics sectors converge more deeply. Joyson Electronics, already a global supplier of intelligent automotive technologies, has positioned itself as a "Tier 1 supplier for both cars and robots." Earlier this year, it expanded into humanoid robotics, offering key hardware and software components such as advanced control units, energy management systems, lightweight structural materials, and integrated assemblies like robot heads and chest modules. Its customer base spans leading international robotics firms as well as major domestic players such as AgiBot and GALBOT.

In April 2025, Joyson Electronics formally established Joyson Embodied Intelligence, assembling a team of PhDs and master's graduates from leading institutions including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Technical University of Munich, and the University of Southern California. The unit focuses on developing embodied intelligence systems spanning interactive, operational, and mobility functions.

Under the new agreement, Alibaba Cloud will provide Joyson Embodied Intelligence with full-stack large-model services and underlying cloud infrastructure, powered by its Qwen model suite. This will support Joyson's efforts to integrate advanced AI into its robotics portfolio.

With Joyson Electronics' global footprint and Alibaba Cloud's worldwide infrastructure, the two companies will jointly deliver AI-driven robotic solutions tailored to local needs in overseas markets. Their focus will be on ensuring technological advancement, regulatory compliance, and cross-cultural adaptability.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
