GAC AION's premium sub-brand HYPTEC has confirmed that its all-new flagship sedan will make its debut at the Chengdu Motor Show 2025, which opens on August 29.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- GAC AION's premium sub-brand HYPTEC has confirmed that its all-new flagship sedan will make its debut at the Chengdu Motor Show 2025, which opens on August 29.

Regulatory filings with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology suggest the model may be named the HYPTEC A8 and will feature an REEV (range-extended electric vehicle)-dedicated powertrain.

Based on the patent images, the car adopts a fresh design language characterized by a full-width light bar paired with a slim lower grille, creating an aggressive front profile. The side view emphasizes a long, elegant silhouette with sharp contours, while the rear is kept minimalist with a clean layout and another full-width light cluster—mirroring the design of the front fascia.

Dimensionally, the sedan measures 5,130 mm in length, 1,966 mm in width, and 1,500 mm (or 1,492 mm) in height, with a wheelbase of 3,020 mm, placing it firmly in the mid-to-large sedan segment.

As for powertrain, the vehicle is equipped with a range-extended setup built around a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing up to 118 kW. It is paired with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, a configuration designed to balance performance with cost efficiency and durability.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
