[SMM New Energy News Flash] Toshiba Corporation and naturenix inc. are expanding their battery subscription demonstration for electric motorcycle taxis in Bangkok by moving from a free pilot phase (Sept 2024–Mar 2025) to a paid model starting Dec 2025. The new phase will support up to 100 motorcycles and five charging stations, with Toshiba supplying its durable SCiB lithium-ion batteries and naturenix providing upgraded packs, chargers, and rapid charging solutions. The trial will also test pricing feedback, monitor technical challenges, and analyze long-term battery performance. The upgraded packs feature real-time monitoring, optimized rapid charge and discharge cycles, and reuse potential for second-life applications, reinforcing a circular electrification ecosystem. By prioritizing battery longevity and a subscription-based business model over mass production, the project aims to advance sustainable mobility and energy integration, with plans to launch commercial services in 2026 and expand into industrial vehicles like forklifts.
