[SMM New Energy News Flash] On August 24, the world’s first “super-step zero-carbon building” was officially inaugurated in Qingdao, Shandong. Standing 117 meters tall with 23 office floors, the building achieves 100% green energy replacement through photovoltaic glass curtain walls, second-life energy storage batteries, and vehicle-to-building discharge. The integrated solar panels provide about 25% of its electricity directly as DC power, avoiding conversion losses and reducing nearly 500 tons of carbon emissions annually. Additionally, 14 retired EV batteries are repurposed for daily charge and discharge cycles, storing excess solar power and low-cost clean energy from the grid, ensuring stable supply during peak demand or cloudy weather. This milestone marks a new advancement in China’s zero-carbon building development.
