On August 20 (Wednesday), Hillgrove Resources, an Australian company, announced on Wednesday that a new high-grade copper/gold ore resource was discovered at its Kanmantoo underground mine in South Australia. Early drilling suggests a potential increase in the mine's metal resources soon.
The newly identified Saddle area, located between the existing Kavanagh and Nugent mines, has a copper grade of 2.67% and a gold grade of 0.36 g/mt.
Hillgrove CEO Lachlan Wallace stated that these results reinforce the strong exploration potential of Kanmantoo.
"The Saddle area, situated between the Kavanagh and Nugent mines, is not included in the current ore resources. It has the potential to become a significant addition to the resource base and be quickly incorporated into the mine plan."
The Kanmantoo mine resumed operations in 2023 and has already started producing copper. Hillgrove is implementing an aggressive drilling program to expand the ore resources and extend the mining life.
