Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 20, Li Auto began nationwide deliveries of its new six-seat all-electric SUV, the Li i8, across 44 cities in China, marking the company's latest push into the BEV (battery electric vehicle) segment.

The automaker has pledged to deliver more than 8,000 Li i8 units by the end of September and is working with suppliers to raise that target to 10,000 units, aiming to put as many vehicles as possible in customer driveways ahead of China's National Day holiday.

The Li i8, the company's first fully electric SUV, hit the market on July 29 with three trim levels priced between 321,800 yuan and 369,800 yuan. The Pro version was priced at 321,800 yuan, the Max at 349,800 yuan, and the top-spec Ultra at 369,800 yuan.

On August 5, Li Auto announced it would streamline the lineup by standardizing the i8 Max as the single configuration. The price was lowered from 349,800 yuan to 339,800 yuan, with a premium audio system worth 10,000 yuan included at no extra cost. A rear entertainment screen package is also offered as an optional add-on for the same price.

The adjustment effectively allows buyers who had selected the Ultra version to access the same features for 34,9800 yuan, while those who opted for the entry-level Pro are being offered either a refund or an upgrade.

According to official specifications, the Li i8 measures 5,085 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,740 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,050 mm. Its design features a steeply raked windshield, semi-enclosed wheels, and flush door handles, giving the SUV a drag coefficient of just 0.218Cd. The profile highlights conventional swing doors, large wheels, and pronounced fender flares.

Inside, the Li i8 adopts Li Auto's signature wraparound cabin design. The steering wheel retains the brand's familiar styling, paired with a central digital display. A panoramic roof comes with a physical sunshade, while rear passengers benefit from privacy blinds. Standard equipment includes a large rear entertainment screen, dual cupholders, and fold-out tables.

Powering the SUV is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, with the front motor rated at 150 kW and the rear at 250 kW, delivering a combined output of 400 kW.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
