[SMM New Energy News Flash] Fujian Qianyu Materials Technology Co., Ltd. has announced its waste lithium battery recycling project in Lianjiang County, Fujian, with a total investment of RMB 220 million. The project covers 56,860 square meters and will be developed in two phases: the first focusing on mechanical crushing and sorting of waste batteries with an annual capacity of 20,000 tons, and the second building a wet-process production line. Once completed, the plant is expected to produce industrial lithium carbonate, graphite, cathode powder, copper foil, and aluminum foil with an annual output value of RMB 750 million. The project is backed by strong local government support and aligns with China’s growing battery recycling industry, which is shifting from policy-driven to technology- and market-driven growth. By 2030, China’s retired power batteries are projected to exceed 6 million tons, with a market size over RMB 140 billion. Major companies such as CATL, BYD, GEM, and Huayou Cobalt are leading the sector, while Qianyu’s new facility positions it as a potential key player in advancing China’s green and sustainable battery recycling ecosystem.
