Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 20, IM Motors announced the official launch of a special L4 Robotaxi route for tourist service, created in partnership with SAIC Mobility and SAIC AI LAB. The service provides direct, autonomous transport between the Shanghai International Tourism Resort and Pudong International Airport.

Passengers can book the service through the "Robotaxi" section of the SAIC Mobility app, with pick-up points including the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, Toy Story Hotel, Eco Park Road, and key stations along the airport connector line.

The project marks Shanghai's first autonomous driving pilot that operates across both highways and surface streets. It is also the first major rollout since IM Motors received permits for demonstration use of its intelligent connected vehicles on high-speed routes in the city.

IM Motors has been accelerating the commercialization of its L4 Robotaxi program. In July, a consortium of IM Motors, Johnson Taxi, and SAIC AI LAB secured one of Shanghai's latest demonstration licenses, granting approval to begin paid operations in designated areas.

On August 15, the service went live for public use in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area. Fifty-eight pick-up and drop-off points were established, spanning tourist attractions, shopping districts, residential neighborhoods, and major transport hubs, enabling flexible and varied travel options.

According to the company, IM Motors' Robotaxi fleet has already handled more than 300,000 ride orders, covering over 7 million kilometers. The service has supported a wide range of scenarios, from daily commutes and metro transfers to leisure and entertainment travel.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
