Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 15, SAIC-GM-Wuling ("SGMW") officially put its renewed compact SUV, the 2025 Wuling Xingguang S, with six variants available. The prices of the updated vehicle range from 99,800 yuan to 129,800 yuan, while the prices after trade-in subsidy range from 89,800 yuan to 119,800 yuan.

As a refreshed model, the 2025 Wuling Xingguang S brings modifications primarily to the interior details, along with adjustments to its features. In terms of powertrains, the PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) version introduces a 1.5T PHEV-dedicated system, and the BEV (battery electric vehicle) version boasts a range of up to 510km. Notably, SAIC-GM-Wuling indicates that both the flagship PHEV with a battery-powered range of 130km and the flagship BEV with a 510km range  offer an optional driver assistance package.

The 2025 Wuling Xingguang S features a "star-wing" aesthetic, giving the vehicle a more minimalist and expansive visual effect. The Wuling silver badge has also been subtly updated, appearing more three-dimensional and glossy.

As for the side profile, The 2025 Wuling Xingguang S is equipped with conventional door handles and 18-inch, low-resistance, five-spoke wheels, complemented by chrome trim along the window edges. The new vehicle model is available in three color options: Starry White, Starry Gray, and Starry Black (the latter being a new addition).

At the rear, the design is clean and simple, with a fuller, rounder appearance. The details include a subtly raised spoiler, slender tail lights, and a two-tone protective panel at the bottom. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle model measures 4,745 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,680 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm and a five-seat layout.

Inside, the 2025 Wuling Xingguang S retains much of the design style of the current model, with standard features such as a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and an 8.8-inch liquid crystal instrument cluster. However, the steering wheel has been changed from a dual-spoke flat-bottom design to a three-spoke layout, with a more intuitive arrangement of multifunction buttons. The vehicle model is also equipped with the LING OS smart vehicle system, which allows users to activate the voice assistant with the phrase "Hello, Xiao Ling". The car also supports 50W air-cooled wireless fast charging. In terms of interior color schemes, in addition to the existing Dark Black and Coconut Brownblack, a new "Sunset Orange" option is available.

In terms of assisted driving features, the 2025 Wuling Xingguang S introduces the Lingmou auxiliary driving system. The vehicle model supports full-speed-range driving assistance from 0 to 130km/h and features an average parking assistance time of 30 seconds. The cross-level memory parking function can store up to 20 different parking paths.

Under the hood, the 2025 Wuling Xingguang S offers both BEV and PHEV powertrain options. The BEV version features a single electric motor with a maximum power output of 150kW and a peak torque of 310N·m, paired with a 60kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, delivering a CLTC range of 510 kilometers and supporting 2C fast charging.

The PHEV version provides a choice of a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine or the newly added 1.5T high-power engine. The 1.5L engine delivers 78kW (106hp) and is paired with battery options of 9.5kWh or 20.5kWh, offering a battery-powered range of 60km and 130km respectively, and a combined range of up to 1,100 kilometers. The 1.5T engine can generate 105kW of power and 220 N·m of torque, with a thermal efficiency of 43.2% at most.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
