[SMM News: China Assures India of Resolving Rare Earth and Fertilizer Supply Issues] Sources within the Indian government revealed that China has made a commitment to address India's core concerns regarding the supply of fertilizers, rare earths, and tunnel boring machines. This assurance brings relief to the Indian industry. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi clearly conveyed to his Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar that China is working on addressing India’s urgent needs for fertilizers, rare earth elements, and tunnel boring machines. Both China and India are facing challenges from the US in terms of trade and tariffs. This significant commitment by China injects new vitality into bilateral relations.
India has long been striving for China to ease export controls on rare earth elements and magnets. This is because Indian EV manufacturers are severely impacted by the shortage of rare earths, which are crucial for the production of electric vehicle engine magnets.
Previously, India's requests for rare earth supplies from China were buried under a mountain of applications following restrictions imposed by China's Ministry of Commerce, and the Indian auto sector's hopes for meetings with Chinese government officials were once ignored. However, now India hopes the situation will improve.
