Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 19, SiEngine, a Chinese supplier of high-end automotive SoC, announced it had completed a Series B funding round exceeding 1 billion yuan.
The financing builds on an earlier round in March 2024, when China State-owned Enterprise Structural Reform Fund (Phase II) and other investors first came on board. This latest tranche brought in additional support from regional government-backed funds, insurers, and banks, pushing the total above 1 billion yuan.
Notably, SiEngine secured the first AIC (Financial Asset Investment Company) equity projects in both Hubei and Shandong provinces, marking a milestone in combining state capital, banking resources, insurance funds, and industry-linked investment.
In 2021, the company launched China's first 7nm automotive-grade smart cockpit chip, the SE1000. The chip has since been adopted in a wide range of vehicles, including FAW Hongqi's Tiangong lineup, Geely's Lynk & Co and Galaxy models, as well as Volkswagen models sold in Europe and the Americas. Several other major automakers are also preparing to roll out vehicles equipped with the chip.
In 2024, SiEngine followed up with the "AD1000," a high-end ADAS chip designed to rival global competitors. It delivered improvements across CPU performance, AI computing, ISP processing, and NPU capabilities.
Leveraging these two chip platforms, SiEngine has introduced 12 tailored solutions that span scenarios from cockpit-parking integration to advanced cockpit-driving fusion. This positions the firm as one of the few Chinese suppliers capable of providing key SoCs for both smart cockpits and autonomous driving.
Adopting an open "big ecosystem" strategy, SiEngine has been pursuing a second growth curve beyond automotive, making inroads into embodied intelligence, low-altitude mobility, and edge computing. At this year's AUTO SHANGHAI, a robot powered by its SE1000 industrial chip attracted significant attention.
