Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 18, SAIC Audi's AUDI brand officially opened pre-sales for the AUDI E5 Sportback in China, introducing four trims with a limited-time price range of 235,900 yuan to 319,900 yuan.

Customers who place a deposit of 1,999 yuan can receive a package of perks valued at over 75,000 yuan, including panoramic driving experiences, interior upgrades, digital features, lifestyle benefits, and financial incentives.

According to AUDI, the model will soon go on sale and deliveries will follow shortly after.

The AUDI E5 Sportback embraces a bold, futuristic design that emphasizes high-tech appeal. Up front, a full-ring LED daytime running light outlines the face, paired with sharp headlamps and illuminated AUDI lettering. The distinctive lighting not only heightens recognition but also reflects AUDI's push toward design innovation.

Notably, the headlights incorporate 469 LEDs at the front grille and 473 at the rear, creating Audi's signature light curtain. The car also debuts the brand's latest matrix LED headlight technology, enabling precise beam control and intelligent adaptive lighting to improve night-time visibility and comfort.

From the side, the model maintains a sleek, minimalist profile with flowing lines and a coupe-style roofline that emphasizes sportiness. Buyers can choose between traditional or digital side mirrors, while large aero-optimized wheels help reduce drag and boost efficiency.

At the rear, the wraparound taillight design mirrors the car's front signature, while smoked lettering and a prominent "quattro" badge highlight its all-wheel-drive setup. A hollowed-out roof spoiler further enhances aerodynamics. The car measures 4,881 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,479 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.

Inside, the AUDI E5 Sportback blends luxury with advanced digital features. A 27-inch panoramic screen runs the AUDI OS, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip. The central console houses the "Audi Smart Island," which features an AI-driven virtual assistant capable of touch and voice interaction. Built on Volcano Engine's large language model "Doubao," the system offers natural conversations, deep semantic understanding, and smart vehicle control—seamlessly linking the car to users' digital lives. Regular OTA updates will keep the software ecosystem fresh and evolving.

For driver assistance, Audi has partnered with leading autonomous driving developer Momenta to build an end-to-end system based on large AI models. The car carries 27 sensors, including a LiDAR with long-range detection, three millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 11 cameras. Processing is powered by NVIDIA's Orin-X chip, enabling the vehicle to handle complex scenarios such as city traffic, highway cruising, and automated parking.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
