Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 18, BYD Battery and JD AUTO signed a strategic cooperation agreement at JD.com's Beijing headquarters, officially launching BYD's first online battery flagship store, according to a post on FinDreams Battery's WeChat account. The new "BYD Light-duty Vehicle Battery JD Self-Operated Flagship Store" marks BYD's entry into direct online retail for two- and three-wheeler batteries.

BYD highlighted the technical strengths of its light-duty vehicle battery line, which uses high-performance cells designed for both durability and safety. The batteries feature a pioneering honeycomb structure that enhances strength while keeping weight low, and have passed more than 400 extreme-condition tests to ensure reliability in demanding environments. Users can also monitor battery status in real time via a smart app.

The company said its decision to partner with JD AUTO was driven by the latter's advanced supply chain capabilities and extensive sales channels, which will help BYD deliver its products and after-sales services more efficiently to a wide consumer base.

JD AUTO emphasized that the collaboration combines BYD's technological expertise and stringent quality standards with JD.com's vast user reach, logistics network, and after-sales system. The company expects the partnership to set a new benchmark for online retail in the two- and three-wheeler energy sector, delivering safe, reliable, and competitively priced battery solutions to Chinese consumers.

The partnership comes at a time when China's booming two- and three-wheeler battery market faces growing safety concerns, with substandard cells flooding the market and frequent accidents undermining consumer trust. By joining forces, BYD and JD.com aim to raise safety standards and provide users with a trustworthy alternative—reliable lithium batteries backed by strong technology and service support.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
