Positioned as a premium five-seat smart SUV, the new vehicle debuts the Hengxing extended-range system, which delivers a combined driving range of over 1,500 kilometers.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 15, IM Motors, the premium NEV maker co-backed by SAIC Motor, Alibaba Group, and Zhangjiang High-tech, began pre-sales for the All-new LS6, unveiling four initial variants priced between 209,900 yuan and 279,900 yuan. Positioned as a premium five-seat smart SUV, the new vehicle debuts the "Hengxing" extended-range system, which delivers a combined driving range of over 1,500 kilometers. The official market launch is scheduled for September 10, when additional trims and pricing details will be released.

The new LS6 adopts a fresh design language, featuring a closed-off front fascia paired with T-shaped headlights for a more distinctive look. The IM badge has been repositioned upward to the hood, while a large black lower grille adds a sportier edge to the styling.

From the side, the SUV emphasizes sleek proportions with sharp character lines, flush door handles, and dynamic dual five-spoke wheels accented by red brake calipers. The REEV (range-extended electric vehicle) version measures 4,937 mm long, 1,988 mm wide, and 1,671 mm tall, with a 2,960 mm wheelbase. The BEV (battery electric vehicle) version maintains identical dimensions except for being 2 mm lower in height.

At the rear, the All-new LS6 retains the brand's signature styling cues, including an upswept ducktail spoiler, a full-width light bar, and a sculpted diffuser. The license plate has been moved lower into the bumper, giving the back end a more layered appearance.

Inside, the SUV features a next-generation digital cockpit built around advanced MiniLED display technology, highlighted by a 5K driver screen and a 3K passenger entertainment screen. Buyers can choose between a full-spoke steering wheel and IM Motor's distinctive YAT half-spoke design. A floating speaker system enhances audio performance, while amenities such as an in-car refrigerator, customizable ambient lighting, and heated rear seats add to the premium experience.

For ADAS capabilities, the new IM LS6 introduces the IMAD 3.0, an advanced driver assistance suite that supports map-free NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) across Chinese cities. It also offers one-touch AI valet parking and full-scenario highway AEB. The system is powered by NVIDIA's Thor platform and supported by a 520-line high-performance LiDAR sensor.

Regarding the REEV version, power comes from the "Hengxing" extended-range system, which pairs a dedicated 1.5T engine with a 66 kWh Super Freevoy MAX battery pack supplied by CATL. The setup delivers up to 450 km of battery-powered CLTC range and a combined maximum of 1,502 km. Built on an 800V fast-charging platform, the new IM LS6 can recover 310 km of range in just 15 minutes. The Super Freevoy MAX battery also supports peak discharge of 275.5 kW.

Rounding out the package, the All-new IM LS6 comes with IM Motor's Agile Lizard Digital Chassis 2.0. It incorporates Continental's new MKC2 brake-by-wire system, advanced tire blowout stability control, and upgraded anti-roll technology. With a turning radius of just 4.79 meters, the SUV offers maneuverability on par with compact cars.

[Automotive: Toyota Decides To Halt Development Of Certain Models]
Toyota Motor Corporation has decided to halt the development of its next-generation battery electric vehicles, specifically targeting a sedan model for its luxury brand Lexus that was originally planned to commence production in mid-2027. This vehicle, featuring fast-charging capabilities and longer cruising range, was showcased at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2023. Initially planned for market launch in 2026, its production start was later postponed to 2027. Over the past year, Toyota's global electric vehicle sales exceeded 190,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 42.4%. However, the decision by the Trump administration in the US to eliminate tax incentives for electric vehicle purchases has created adverse market conditions.
