On 7 August, the French National Solar Energy Institute (CEAINES) and Canadian startup WattByWatt jointly announced that they had successfully manufactured a perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell with a conversion efficiency of up to 28%. The cell has a practical area of 9 square centimetres, bringing it closer to the standards for large-scale mass production.
