Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 12, Tesla announced that the new Model 3 Long Range RWD variant was now available in the Chinese market, priced from 269,500 yuan.

According to the company, the model delivers a CLTC-rated range of 830 kilometers and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. All four Model 3 variants currently on sale in China have also received range upgrades.

Official images show no changes to the Model 3's exterior design. The Long Range RWD version comes standard with 18-inch wheels, while a 19-inch set is available for an additional 6,000 yuan.

Power comes from a 225 kW electric motor paired with a 78.4 kWh ternary-lithium battery pack supplied by LG.

Tesla has also rolled out the Model 3 Performance AWD, starting at 339,500 yuan. This version offers a 647 km CLTC range—24 km more than the 2024 model—while retaining its 0–100 km/h sprint time of 3.1 seconds and the same price point.

Data from the China Passenger Car Association shows that Tesla delivered 67,886 China-made Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in July, including exports, down 5.2% from June. The launch of these updated models could provide fresh momentum for sales in the coming months.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
