Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Horse Powertrain, a powertrain solution supplier co-built by Geely and Renualt, recently rolled out three new-generation powertrain products at its Yiwu manufacturing base in China, marking the start of mass production following successful development and validation, according to a press release the company issued on August 13 via its WeChat account.
The lineup includes two HEV (hybrid electric vehicle)-dedicated engines—the DHE20TDE and BHE15TDEB—and the DHT120 intelligent electric drive.
Positioned as one of the company's core global hubs for powertrain R&D and manufacturing, the Yiwu plant leverages micron-level precision engineering and advanced management systems, achieving more than 85% automation and digitalization. Designed as a world-class green and smart factory, it underpins Horse Powertrain's capability for rapid product iteration and efficient large-scale production.
Yang Kui, Vice President of Geely Auto Group, noted that the successful rollout was the result of coordinated efforts across R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain partners. He highlighted the technical breakthroughs of the development teams, the precision work of production units, and the strong backing from suppliers.
The new powertrains showcase Horse Powertrain's latest technological advances. The DHE20TDE, set to debut in the Zeekr 9X delivers a peak output of 205 kW, making it the first dedicated hybrid engine globally to exceed 200 kW. It achieves a thermal efficiency of over 46% while cutting fuel consumption by 5–10% compared with 1.5T engines in its class, offering both high performance and exceptional efficiency.
The BHE15TDEB engine sets a new global benchmark for mass-produced hybrid engines with a record thermal efficiency of 47.26%. Meanwhile, the DHT120 intelligent electric drive is compatible with both plug-in and methanol hybrid systems, delivering breakthroughs in integration and efficiency. Compared with its predecessor, the DHT120 is 14.4% lighter and more compact, while its in-house developed intelligent control system boosts the power conversion module's efficiency to 98.42%.
These three new products will be installed in upcoming models from Zeekr, Lynk & Co, and Galaxy brands. The milestone reflects Horse Powertrain's deep-rooted engineering capabilities and marks the beginning of its next stage of growth.
