Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 11, Great Wall Motor ("GWM") began taking pre-orders for the All-new TANK 500, with prices ranging from 360,000 yuan to 388,800 yuan. The SUV debuts with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor and GWM's latest Coffee Pilot Ultra driver assistance system.

Visually, the updated TANK 500 stays close to the current model's proportions, but fine-tunes the details. The front grille adopts a fresh design with a flared lower section, inspired by traditional Chinese architecture. A new paint option, "Dunhuang Green," joins the lineup for a distinctive look.

From the side, the PHEV's silhouette remains unchanged, though the rear now bears the GWM emblem. Dimensions are identical to the outgoing model at 5,078 mm long, 1,934 mm wide, and 1,905 mm tall, with a 2,850 mm wheelbase.

The roof and fenders now house an array of sensors, including the LiDAR unit, feeding data to GWM's third-generation ADAS, namely, the Coffee Pilot Ultra system. The upgrade enables full-scenario navigation-on-autopilot (NOA) and other high-level driver assistance functions.

Inside, the cabin gets a complete refresh. Alongside the "fridge, TV, big sofa" amenities, the layout retains the traditional T-shaped dashboard but integrates a fully digital instrument cluster and a large floating central touchscreen. A centrally mounted quartz clock adds a touch of old-school luxury.

Other creature comforts include wireless phone charging, independent rear climate control, ventilated and heated rear seats, and a built-in refrigerator, now joined by a new roof-mounted rear entertainment screen.

In terms of ADAS capability, the Coffee Pilot Ultra setup features a 128-line high-resolution LiDAR, three millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and 11 HD cameras, all powered by an NVIDIA Orin-X chip. This hardware suite supports map-free full-scenario NOA, cross-floor memory parking, automated parking, and path-tracing reverse maneuvers.

The new vehicle arrives with a versatile "three-in-one architecture" strategy, offering distinct powertrains to meet varied driving needs. The Hi4-T Zhixiang Edition is powered by an upgraded second-generation Hi4-T system, delivering 130 kW of peak motor output and 495 Nm of torque, with 30%–80% fast charging achievable in just 16 minutes. The Hi4-Z Zhixiang Edition adopts a "triple-motor, four-wheel-drive" setup—combining a 2.0T engine with dual electric motors—for a formidable 635 kW of total output and 1,195 Nm of torque, enabling 0–100 km/h acceleration in 4.6 seconds. It offers a WLTC-rated battery-powered range of 201 km and a combined range of 1,096 km. Meanwhile, the 3.0T oil-fueled variant is tuned for hardcore off-road enthusiasts, delivering a pure, uncompromising power experience.
