Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 7, 2025, Hesai Technology, a high-tech company specializing in LiDAR sensor solutions, forged strategic partnerships with Tsinghua-affiliated Chinese embodied intelligence startup ROBOTERA, according to a post on Hesai Technology's WeChat account. Centered on collaborative perception technologies for intelligent service robots, the two companies aim to explore new scenarios, applications, and user experiences in the service robotics sector to meet diverse consumer demands.

As the only embodied intelligence enterprise where Tsinghua University holds a stake, ROBOTERA has pursued a fully self-developed, hardware-software integrated technology stack since its inception. The company is committed to creating general-purpose intelligent agents for the physical world and delivering universal productivity, with the vision of enabling robots to serve industries across the board and enter households worldwide.

ROBOTERA's flagship humanoid robot Q5 for the service industry, features a "slim-waist" design for lifelike replication of human motion details, 44 degrees of freedom, and the proprietary "Fairy Hand", enabling a wide operating range from floor level to over two meters high. Its compact chassis, equipped with 3D LiDAR and vision-based navigation, allows smooth passage through tight spaces and adaptability to diverse scenarios such as exhibitions, retail environments, and home services.

LiDAR, widely regarded as the "gold standard" in 3D environmental sensing sector, has become a core sensor in robotics technology. Often described as a robot's "intelligent eye", LiDAR delivers precise 3D environmental modeling, enhances operational safety through real-time obstacle detection and avoidance, and improves path planning for more advanced autonomous decision-making and execution. In the perception–decision–execution loop, LiDAR plays a pivotal role by supplying high-quality environmental data, driving algorithmic iteration and accelerating the path toward greater robotic intelligence.

This year, Hesai Technology launched its JT series of ultra-compact, ultra-hemispheric 3D LiDARs tailored for robotics and industrial applications. With a field of view of 360° multiplied by 189°, the LiDAR product enables blind-spot-free perception while its compact design allows seamless integration into various robotic platforms.

As of May 30, Hesai Technology's JT series of LiDARs logs a cumulative delivery volume of exceeding 100,000 units in under five months since hitting the market.

In the LiDAR sector, Hesai Technology recorded a usage volume of 215,865 units during the period, with a 29.6% share of the market, according to data from Gasgoo Auto Research Institute's ADAS usage rankings of supplier for January to May 2025.

As intelligent robots take on increasingly diverse forms and integrate more deeply into the physical world, they are steadily enhancing human comfort and efficiency. Leveraging Hesai Technology's strengths in LiDAR and ROBOTERA's expertise in embodied intelligence, the partnership seeks to make robots catalysts for technological progress — transforming them into trusted daily companions, efficient productivity tools, and innovative partners that enrich everyday life.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
