The agreement marks a pivotal step forward for the LUXEED brand, which is now entering a new phase of development centered on three core strategic initiatives.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 7, 2025, Chery Auto and Huawei Device signed an upgraded “Strategic Cooperation 2.0” agreement in Shenzhen for their jointly developed LUXEED brand, according to a post on LUXEED's WeChat account.

The agreement marks a pivotal step forward for the LUXEED brand, which is now entering a new phase of development centered on three core strategic initiatives:

First, over 10 billion yuan will be committed to research and development, with a dedicated 5,000-person engineering team focused on core technologies such as intelligent driving and electrification. The brand’s R&D footprint will expand with dual design centers in Shanghai and Shenzhen—infusing the product line with cutting-edge design language—alongside a new proprietary R&D campus in Wuhu city, positioned as LUXEED’s answer to Huawei’s Songshan Lake facility. This will establish a multi-city innovation network underpinned by collaboration and specialization.

The newly formed Anhui LUXEED New Energy Vehicle Company will operate as a fully independent unit managing the entire value chain—from R&D and production to customer service. Huawei will provide deep technological support to LUXEED’s advanced manufacturing facilities, enabling full automation of stamping, welding, and painting through industrial robotics, AI-based visual inspections, and end-to-end digital traceability. Vehicle assembly will feature real-time quality monitoring, with production scaled to deliver one car per minute. Under this updated cooperation framework, Huawei will take charge of operations, while Chery positions LUXEED as its top-priority strategic project.

A wave of new products is now in the pipeline. Pre-orders for updated versions of the LUXEED R7 and S7 will begin on August 8. These refreshed models debut a redesigned brand logo, updated styling inside and out, and upgraded autonomous driving capabilities, thanks to new rear-facing solid-state LiDAR and 4D millimeter-wave radar systems. Looking ahead to 2026, the company will introduce the full-size LUXEED R9 SUV and its first MPV—code-named EHV—built on the E0X-L platform with both BEV and range-extended options, powered by CATL battery packs. LUXEED is targeting annual sales of 300,000 units.

The upgraded partnership also reinforces LUXEED’s distinct position within Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance ecosystem. Unlike other collaborative brands, LUXEED's emphasis on end-to-end autonomy and priority access to cutting-edge Huawei technologies sets it apart as a flagship example of deep vertical integration.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
