Emirates Global Aluminium has shipped its inaugural batch of “MinimAL”—aluminium smelted with 24/7 carbon-free electricity from the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant—to Egypt’s CANEX Aluminum. The clean-power source eliminates the largest emissions component of aluminium production; Barakah already supplies 40 TWh annually (about 25 % of UAE demand) and avoids 22.4 million t of CO₂ each year. EGA, which foresees global low-carbon aluminium demand tripling by 2040, adds MinimAL to earlier sustainability lines such as solar-sourced CelestiAL and recycled RevivAL, strengthening the UAE’s position as a reliable provider of low-carbon industrial materials.
