The technology is set to debut in premium passenger vehicles from leading European brands.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On August 6, FORVIA HELLA announced that it has achieved its world's first mass production of a 12V lithium battery management system (BMS) in China through the partnership with EVE Energy, with the technology set to debut in premium passenger vehicles from leading European brands.

The system features precise low-voltage energy monitoring and intelligent management, multi-layered safety protections, and a flexible design compatible with diverse electrical architectures. Sustainability is embedded throughout its lifecycle under the principle of "using less, using better, lasting longer."

Ms. Deng Dongmei, Senior Director of FORVIA HELLA China's Electronics Division and General Manager of HELLA (Nanjing) Electronics Co., Ltd., emphasized that China has emerged as a global leader in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector, driving rapid technological iteration and transformation. She said the company is committed to aligning with China's market dynamics and supporting automakers in achieving zero-emission targets through innovative products and system solutions spanning all stages of electrification.

She noted that the mass production milestone in China reflects the company's strong R&D and smart manufacturing capabilities to respond swiftly to local market demands. "This achievement not only lays a solid foundation for future domestic projects but also strengthens FORVIA HELLA’s position as a global leader in electrification," Ms. Deng said.

In March 2024, FORVIA HELLA announced the establishment of HELLA (Nanjing) Electronics Co., Ltd. to accelerate its presence in the NEV segment and adopt a more flexible business model to meet diverse needs from Chinese automakers. Initially focused on energy management solutions, the new entity will gradually introduce FORVIA HELLA's full range of automotive electronics products to cater to China's growing demand for high-quality components.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
