Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On the evening of August 6, the all-new XPENG P7 model made its global debut with the presale kicking off at the same time. Customers can place a deposit of 99 yuan, which will count as 3,000 yuan towards the final purchase price. The model is scheduled to go on sale later this month.

Although pricing wasn't disclosed at the event, XPENG's CEO He Xiaopeng had previously tempered expectations, noting that while the company hopes the all-new P7 becomes a high-volume model, it won't be a "cheap" car. With its performance and tech upgrades, he emphasized that it's not a vehicle designed to suit every buyer.

The refreshed P7 embraces a striking cyber-futuristic aesthetic. At the front, it features a seamless light blade running across the daylights, matrix-style LED headlights, and a flush illuminated logo. When unlit, the badge turns a refined dark tone—offering a more premium appearance than the conventional white emblems commonly seen in the industry.

Staying true to its identity as a pure electric sport sedan, the new P7 measures 5,017 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,427 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,008 mm. It's positioned in the mid-to-large sedan segment and comes in six color options.

With a width-to-height ratio of 1.40, length-to-height ratio of 3.57, and wheel-to-height ratio of 0.52, the all-new P7 achieves sports car-like proportions that enhance its aggressive stance and sense of muscular stability.

A blacked-out A-pillar creates the illusion of a floating roof, complemented by frameless side mirrors and windows that underscore the vehicle’s sporty and youthful design. Aerodynamically, the XPENG P7 impresses with a drag coefficient of just 0.201, which XPENG claims could add up to 90 km of range under CLTC conditions.

Notably, the all-new P7 comes standard with 20-inch wheels, with 21-inch forged rims available as an upgrade. It's also fitted with staggered tires—245 mm in the front and 275 mm in the rear—delivering improved handling dynamics.

At the rear, the new P7's design is equally distinctive. Its broad-shouldered, tapering silhouette gives the impression of a wide-body stance. A large hatchback-style tailgate adds functionality, while the H-shaped taillights mirror the front design, creating visual symmetry.

He Xiaopeng also spotlighted the electric rear spoiler, which he said cost over 10 million yuan to develop. Seamlessly integrated into the bodywork, the spoiler offers 10 levels of active adjustment based on vehicle speed.

Inside, the cabin is available in three color schemes and features a slim, sporty digital instrument cluster that supports multiple display modes—including a bold red layout designed for a more aggressive visual tone.

The newly designed multifunction steering wheel is compact at just 365 mm in diameter and requires only 2.5 turns lock-to-lock. It offers four-way power adjustment and is equipped with a premium rotary "satellite drive control knob"—a feature inspired by luxury sports cars. This knob handles various functions and doubles as the vehicle's intelligent driving indicator light.

All refreshed P7 variants come standard with the X-HUD co-developed with Huawei, inherited from the G7. Spanning 87 inches, the display also offers mood-enhancing features—such as calming animations designed to ease road rage—adding an element of emotional interaction to the driving experience.

The central infotainment system, dubbed the "Tri-Axis Adaptive Screen," is another major highlight. Designed with a human-like interactive approach, it can respond to gestures like nods and has reportedly undergone one million durability tests to ensure long-term reliability.

Other features include a 9-inch digital rearview mirror, an 8-inch rear-seat entertainment screen, ambient lighting, and a segment-first “Touch Pad” smart control panel. Positioned on the inside of the driver's door, this panel allows customizable shortcuts for various functions, enhancing user convenience.

The front seats are designed as integrated mobile units, with both the driver and passenger seats offering ventilation and heating, along with built-in headrest speakers. The driver's seat also features active side bolsters that provide additional lateral support during high-speed cornering.

Underneath, the all-P7 adopts a mid-mounted electric drive layout, with a lightweight aluminum front double wishbone and rear five-link suspension. It comes standard with dual-chamber air suspension and CDC adaptive damping across the range.

The all-wheel-drive variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, hits a top speed of 230 km/h, and brakes to a stop from 100 km/h in just 33.16 meters. XPENG is currently testing the car on various racetracks and plans to share official performance results at its market launch.

Every version of the all-new P7 is equipped with XPENG's AI-optimized 5C ultra-fast charging battery. Customers can choose from three configurations: a 712 km long-range trim, an extended-range version with up to 820 km, and a high-performance AWD variant offering 750 km of range.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
