【SMM New Energy News Flash】Scientists have used generative artificial intelligence to discover new materials that could significantly improve battery technology, particularly in developing multivalent batteries. Unlike lithium-ion batteries, which suffer from low energy density and degradation over time, multivalent batteries could offer higher efficiency, better energy storage, and use more abundant materials. However, the large size and high charge of multivalent ions pose integration challenges. By leveraging AI, researchers were able to efficiently analyze millions of material combinations and identify five promising porous metal oxide structures, paving the way for more sustainable and powerful next-generation batteries
