Beijing (Gasgoo)- Seyond, a leading Chinese LiDAR technology company, announced via its WeChat account on July 31 that its latest-generation pure solid-state ultra-wide-angle LiDAR, the Hummingbird D1, has secured a designated contract from a premium brand under one of China's top automakers.
The selected vehicle model is positioned as a high-end intelligent car, demanding exceptional performance, reliability, and integration from its perception systems. Thanks to its groundbreaking technology and adaptability across diverse driving scenarios, the Hummingbird D1 has emerged as a key enabler in the brand's intelligent transformation.
The Hummingbird D1 is built on a pure solid-state electronic scanning architecture—eliminating all mechanical moving parts. Refined by Seyond's seasoned engineering team, the LiDAR boasts high reliability, production efficiency, and manufacturing consistency. It offers a robust and dependable sensing foundation for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Compact and lightweight, the Hummingbird D1 is designed for flexible deployment across multiple vehicle exterior points, including fenders and bumpers. Its form factor can be tailored to match OEM styling requirements, empowering designers to balance aesthetics with functional integration.
The Hummingbird D1 also supports a satellite system architecture and outputs raw data, allowing centralized domain controllers to process point clouds. This significantly improves system resource efficiency while laying the groundwork for scalable, future-proof platforms that support continuous feature evolution and algorithm upgrades.
With a field of view of 140° × 100° and a detection blind spot of less than 10 cm, the Hummingbird D1 delivers full-spectrum, real-time perception across all scenarios. It can accurately detect overhead and hollow obstacles such as garage height bars, barriers, and signage, as well as low-lying objects like children, pets, and traffic cones. This enables a substantial leap in proactive safety performance for higher-level ADAS driving.
The new contract represents a significant milestone for Seyond, following the large-scale production of its high-performance Falcon series (1550nm) LiDARs and modular Robin series (905nm/940nm) LiDARs.
This breakthrough not only validates the viability of Seyond's dual-path technology strategy but also establishes it among the first globally to bring pure solid-state LiDAR into mass-produced passenger vehicles. It signifies a major step forward in making pure solid-state LiDAR more reliable, cost-effective, and easier to integrate—accelerating its path to commercial adoption.
