[Ministry of Commerce: Total import and export of services in H1 reached 3,887.26 billion yuan, up 8.0% YoY]

In the first half of 2025 (H1), China's service trade grew steadily, with the total import and export volume of services reaching RMB 3,887.26 billion (yuan, the same hereinafter), up 8.0% YoY. Among them, exports amounted to RMB 1,688.3 billion, a 15.0% increase, while imports reached RMB 2,198.96 billion, a 3.2% increase. The service trade deficit stood at RMB 510.66 billion, a decrease of RMB 152.21 billion compared to the same period last year. The main characteristics are as follows: Knowledge-intensive service trade maintained growth. In H1, the import and export volume of knowledge-intensive services reached RMB 1,502.54 billion, a 6.0% increase. Among them, other commercial services, telecommunications, computer, and information services had relatively large import and export scales, with amounts of RMB 639.1 billion and RMB 529.38 billion respectively, and growth rates of 3.1% and 12.7% respectively. The export of knowledge-intensive services amounted to RMB 865.04 billion, a 7.8% increase, while the import reached RMB 637.5 billion, a 3.6% increase. The surplus stood at RMB 227.54 billion, an expansion of RMB 40.92 billion compared to the same period last year. Travel service exports grew the fastest. In H1, travel services maintained rapid growth, with import and export reaching RMB 1,080.29 billion, a 12.3% increase, making it the largest sector in service trade. Among them, exports grew by 68.7%, and imports grew by 5.5%.
