BYD posts 27.35% YoY jump in Jan.-Jul. 2025 vehicle sales

For the first seven months of the year, BYD Company Limited (BYD) sold a total of 2,490,250 vehicles, which leapt 27.35% from the year-ago period.

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- For the first seven months of the year, BYD Company Limited ("BYD") sold a total of 2,490,250 vehicles, which leapt 27.35% from the year-ago period, according to a post on its WeChat account. During this period, the automaker sold a total of 550,264 passenger vehicles and pick-up trucks across its overseas markets.

For the month of July alone, BYD reported sales of 344,296 new vehicles, marking a year-on-year rise of 0.56%, but showing a month-on-month decrease of 10.01% due to the seasonal factor.

Of the new vehicles sold last month, passenger vehicle sales amounted to 341,030 units, a 0.07% increase compared to the prior-year period but a month-on-month decline of 9.69%. Breaking down the sales by powertrain solutions, battery electric vehicle sales totaled 177,887 units, reflecting a year-on-year jump of 36.84%, and also indicating a month-on-month drop of 14.02%, contributing 52.16% to BYD's overall passenger vehicle sales. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid electric vehicle sales came in at 163,143 units, showing a year-on-year dip of 22.61% and also posting a 4.45% month-on-month drop.

Additionally, BYD announced that its overseas sales of new energy passenger vehicles and pick-up trucks reached 80,178 units in the seventh month of 2025, marking a year-on-year spike of 159.5%.

Breaking the monthly sales down by brands and product series, the Dynasty and Ocean series together sold 315,136 vehicles in July. The DENZA brand recorded sales of 11,375 vehicles, while the FANFGCHENGBAO and YANGWANG brands logged sales of 14,180 units and 339 units, respectively.

The company also sold 3,266 commercial vehicles last month, which shot up 106.19% over a year earlier, but tumbled 34.11% over a month ago.

On July 21, BYD announced the rollout of its 13 millionth new energy vehicle, a milestone that comes just eight months after reaching the 10-million-unit mark in November 2024.

The landmark vehicle is a YANGWANG U7, a flagship sedan under BYD's premium sub-brand YANGWANG.
