【SMM Lithium Battery Recycling】Nanjing's 80,000-ton Retired Lithium Battery Comprehensive Utilization ProjectRecently, Jiangsu Environmental Protection Network released the second environmental impact assessment (EIA) public notice for the "Retired Lithium Battery Comprehensive Utilization Project" by a company. The construction of this project has attracted much attention and is expected to inject strong momentum into Nanjing's circular economy development. Located in the Liuhe Circular Economy Industrial Park, Liuhe District, Nanjing City, the project has a total investment of 500 million yuan. It is planned to be constructed in two phases. Phase I plans for an annual comprehensive processing capacity of 20,000 tons of retired lithium battery packs (including 18,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate and 2,000 tons of ternary lithium) and 10,000 tons of jelly rolls (5,000 tons each of lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium). Phase II will further increase the processing capacity to reach an annual comprehensive processing capacity of 60,000 tons of retired lithium battery packs (including 54,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate and 6,000 tons of ternary lithium) and 10,000 tons of jelly rolls (5,000 tons each of lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium). Additionally, new factory buildings and supporting auxiliary facilities will be constructed to meet the operational needs of the project.
