U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the U.S. is open to negotiating with Canada on metals tariffs, acknowledging their impact—especially on aluminum used in Ford’s F-series trucks. While tariffs on some Canadian goods have increased to 35%, the separate aluminum and steel tariffs remain unchanged. Canada’s goal of reaching a broader trade deal by August 1 appears delayed, with officials warning that a tariff-free agreement is unlikely.
