Shanghai (Gasgoo)- On July 31, BYD officially opened pre-orders for the YANGWANG U8L Dingshi Edition, a full-size executive luxury SUV positioned at the top of its premium lineup. The pre-sale price is set at 1.3 million yuan, with an intent deposit of 20,000 yuan.

The YANGWANG U8L stays true to the YANGWANG design language with its distinctive "ding"-inspired front fascia. It features an Obsidian Black and Solar Flare Gold dual-tone exterior, highlighted by gold accents around the body, including the side mirrors and D-pillar louver. These details evoke a commanding yet refined aesthetic. The SUV sports matrix-style signature headlights, a pixel-pattern grille, and an optional set of 24K gold Oracle Bone Script badges for the front, rear, and steering wheel.

At the rear, a split electric tailgate offers both functional versatility and ceremonial flair, with a memory function for the upper door and a lower tailgate sturdy enough to seat two adults.

The cabin is designed around a central symmetry layout that expresses balance and elegance. Two interior color themes are offered—black/brown and purple/gray—paired with natural walnut or teak trim for a tactile, organic finish. Seating surfaces are crafted from premium Nappa leather processed through 78 steps, including traditional diamond quilting. Underfoot are plush 15mm natural wool carpets. The second-row executive zero-gravity seats come with dual smart armrest screens, twin calf rests, a right-side footrest, dual foldable tables, and wireless chargers. Seating modes include full recline, cloud-nap, and cinema view to suit a range of comfort needs.

A full-suite intelligent light-sensitive privacy window system and a 32-speaker Dynaudio Evidence Platinum audio setup with Dolby Atmos support deliver immersive in-cabin entertainment. Both front and second rows have independent headrest speakers, creating a theater-like soundstage.

The SUV features a library-quiet cabin with in-cabin noise levels kept below 64.6 dB at 120 km/h. A 21.4-inch motorized overhead screen supports five adjustable viewing angles from 90° to 110°, operable via the second-row controls. Additional amenities include a dual-function refrigerator, panoramic roof with an opening front sunroof, soft-close electric doors, a capacitive steering wheel, 13 power outlets and USB ports, front-seat dynamic side bolsters, 128-color ambient lighting, seasonal fragrance diffusers, and intelligent climate control—all contributing to a deeply refined user experience.

Built on BYD's advanced e⁴ platform, the U8L delivers blistering performance with a 0–100 km/h acceleration time in the 3-second range. Key capabilities include run-flat driving and tank-turn functionality. The upgraded DiSus-P intelligent hydraulic body control system with dual-valve dampers dramatically enhances ride comfort and suspension dynamics.

On the tech front, the U8L features the DiPilot 600 advanced driver assistance suite, which includes a triple-LiDAR configuration. It comes standard with a split-design active rear-wheel steering system, carbon-ceramic brake discs, and an emergency floating function supported by quad-motor torque vectoring. All core components meet IP68 waterproofing standards, making the SUV capable in flood-prone or off-road environments.

Powering the YANGWANG U8L is the same range-extended hybrid system found in the current U8 model, combining a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with multiple electric motors. The system delivers a total output of 880 kW and 1,280 Nm of torque, paired with double-wishbone suspension at both front and rear to balance dynamic performance with premium ride quality.

World's First Mass-Produced Sodium-Ion Battery Passenger Vehicle Officially Unveiled
On February 5, Changan Automobile unveiled its global sodium-ion battery strategy, and the world's first mass-produced sodium-ion battery passenger vehicle was officially introduced. Test data shows that the vehicle equipped with CATL's sodium-ion battery delivers nearly three times the discharge power compared to conventional lithium iron phosphate vehicles with the same battery capacity under -30°C conditions. In extreme cold environments of -40°C, it maintains over 90% capacity retention, and it can still discharge stably even at the extreme low temperature of -50°C.
