BYD launches SHARK 6 plug-in hybrid pickup truck in Pakistan

On July 25 local time, BYD launched its SHARK 6 pickup in Karachi, marking the debut of Pakistan's first luxury plug-in hybrid pickup truck, according to BYD's press release.

Equipped with BYD's proprietary Dual Mode Off-road (DMO) hybrid platform and integrated CTC (cell-to-chassis) technology, the BYD SHARK 6 is engineered for rugged performance. It features a professional-grade four-wheel drive system and multiple terrain presetsincluding mud, snow, and sand modesdesigned to maintain stability and drivability in challenging conditions. The vehicle also supports V2L (vehicle-to-load) capability, allowing it to power external devices, making it well-suited for outdoor adventures, camping, and other off-grid scenarios.

Zhang Jie, Deputy General Manager of BYD's Asia-Pacific automotive sales division, expressed strong confidence in the SHARK 6's prospects. He described the launch as a milestone in BYD's entry into Pakistan's new energy pickup market and a reflection of the company's broader commitment to advancing "China intelligent manufacturing" and sustainable mobility worldwide. Zhang added that BYD will continue introducing cutting-edge technologies to the region while working closely with local partners to accelerate automotive electrification.

Lei Jian, Country Head of BYD Pakistan, noted that since the brand's official market entry in August 2024, models like the Yuan PLUS and the Seal have quickly gained popularity, helping BYD secure the top spot in Pakistan's NEV sales rankings. The SHARK 6, as the company's first PHEV offering in the country, carries forward its mission to support Pakistan's green transition.

Danish Khaliq, Vice President of MegaMotor CompanyBYD's local partnersaid the SHARK 6 redefines the performance benchmark for pickups in Pakistan. "We've optimized the vehicle based on local needs. It combines robust off-road capability, ultra-low fuel consumption, and eco-conscious design, making it the intelligent mobility solution Pakistan's drivers have been waiting for," he added.
