U.S. Commerce Department Grants Tariff Exemption for Specific Small-Scale Chinese Solar Equipment

The U.S. Department of Commerce recently formally announced an exemption from anti-dumping and countervailing duties for certain small-scale solar equipment made in China, as well as the beginning of the refund of duties already collected before 1 December 2022. This tariff exemption has clear technical boundaries and only targets specific small products:
(1) with a power of no more than 20 watts
(2) with a surface area of no more than 1,000 square centimetres
(3) operating without a built-in inverter
(4) small rigid solar panels used for automatic lighting equipment
