[SMM Aluminum News] Recently, the Metal Structure Engineering Branch of China MCC22 Group Corporation Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China MCC22 Metal Structure Company"), the contractor of the Huatong Angola aluminum project, has achieved significant progress. The main steel structures of the project's core facilities - the fresh alumina warehouse and the fluorine-containing alumina warehouse - have been successfully capped. The first phase of the project is expected to commence operations in October 2025, and the project is currently running smoothly. Upon completion, the project is anticipated to create over 1,000 direct job opportunities in Angola, with 800 of these positions prioritized for local residents. It is understood that the Huatong Aluminum Industrial Park in Angola is planned to be fully constructed in five phases over a period of 8 to 10 years, realizing the entire industry chain from alumina preparation, electrolytic aluminum production to aluminum product processing. Among them, the investment scale of the first phase project is $250 million, with an annual production capacity of 120,000 mt of aluminum, and it is expected to be completed and put into operation in the second half of 2025.
