US-based Hybar Steel (founded by the former CEO of Big River Steel) plans to build a new rebar mill adjacent to its existing facility in Osceola, Mississippi, with an investment cost $100 million lower than the previous one (due to the already completed infrastructure). After the new mill comes into operation, Hybar will have an annual capacity of 700,000 mt and employ over 154 staff. The company is also evaluating the possibility of expansion in Georgia and South Carolina. Mississippi is currently the top county in the US in terms of steel production.
