The Tsunami Warning Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources issued a yellow tsunami alert. At 7:24 a.m. (Beijing Time) on July 30, 2025, a magnitude 8.8 earthquake occurred in the open sea off the east coast of Kamchatka (52.53°N, 160.16°E), with a focal depth of 20 kilometers (revised focal parameters). Based on the latest monitoring and analysis results, the Tsunami Warning Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources determined that the earthquake had triggered a tsunami, which was expected to cause disastrous impacts on the coastal areas of Shanghai, southern Zhoushan, eastern Taipei, western Pingdong, eastern Pingdong, southeastern Taitung, northeastern Taitung, Hualien, and Yilan in China.
