Two major new energy company have achieved a breakthrough in circular battery recycling by producing battery-grade lithium hydroxide from spent EV batteries, it becomes a rare capability in the industry. Their innovative process extracts lithium from mixed NMC and LFP black mass on a single line, enhancing versatility while reducing costs. The partnership with the proprietary of CYANEX® 936P solvent and the expertise of hydrometallurgical had delivers lithium hydroxide that exceeds cathode manufacturers’ purity standards. This milestone aligns with EU Battery Regulation (2023/1542) targets, which mandate 50% lithium recovery by 2027 and 80% by 2031, positioning the technology as a scalable solution for Europe’s sustainable battery ambitions.
