India's aluminum scrap imports show new trade momentum, with potential gradual reduction in reliance on the US

According to foreign media reports, as the principles of the circular economy gain increasing attention and the demand for sustainable manufacturing practices grows, India's thirst for aluminum scrap continues to rise, with current demand reaching approximately 2.5 million mt. The latest data from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry indicates that in Q1 of this year, India's aluminum scrap imports reached 420,000 mt, showing a significant increase compared to the 340,000 mt imported during the same period last year. Notably, these aluminum scraps primarily originate from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and the UK, suggesting that India may be gradually reducing its reliance on the US in terms of aluminum scrap trade.
