TiO2 Output in China Declined 1.06% MoM in July 2025 Amid Production Cuts

Published: Jul 29, 2025 11:25 (GMT+8)
[SMM Titanium Express] China's TiO2 output fell 1.06% MoM in July 2025 as producers maintained output cuts. Inventory levels normalized to 1-month supply, with idled capacity set for August restart. Major producers' maintenance tightened supply, while weak coatings demand and seasonal factors delayed market recovery to September.

Yongmaotai Plans to Raise $998M for Magnesium Alloy Projects and Expand Robot Component Production
【SMM Magnesium On September 22, Yongmaotai announced that it plans to raise no more than 998 million yuan through a private placement. Of this amount, 520 million yuan will be invested in the intelligent manufacturing project of magnesium alloy precision components. Once the project reaches its designed capacity, it will be able to produce 4.5 million magnesium alloy automotive parts and 350,000 sets of lightweight components for intelligent robots annually. Currently, the company has established more than 20 magnesium alloy die-casting production lines, covering models ranging from 650 to 7000T, and has ordered 10 semi-solid equipment units. It has also established cooperation with major automakers such as XPeng and BYD. With the implementation of the private placement project, the production capacity of magnesium alloy precision manufacturing is expected to accelerate, and lightweight components for robots may become a new growth point.】

[SMM Flash] Amnesty Reports Abuses at Rubaya Coltan Mines and Alleged Trafficking to Rwanda
Amnesty International’s research briefing published on 21 September documents alleged forced labour, arbitrary detention and other abuses by M23 fighters against artisanal miners near Rubaya in eastern DRC. It also reports coltan trafficking from M23-controlled areas into Rwanda. These are Amnesty’s investigative findings; the briefing does not establish a verified volume of trafficked coltan. Amnesty called on countries and companies to stop purchasing coltan and gold from Rwanda until its government demonstrates that trafficked DRC material is no longer entering supply chains. The call increases scrutiny of tantalum sourcing and traceability. It is an NGO recommendation, not an enacted trade ban.
