The Southern Donghai Steel Project in Yunfu City, Guangdong Province, has entered the final stage of commissioning. With a total investment of 18 billion yuan, it is a core project of the Guangdong Metal Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Industrial Park. The project adopts an electric arc furnace short-process technology using steel scrap as raw material. Upon completion, it will achieve an annual output of 7.2 million mt of high-quality steel, with an expected annual output value of 40 billion yuan, annual profit and tax of 2 billion yuan, and the creation of over 5,000 jobs. As a green steel project encouraged by the state, its short-process technology offers significant low-carbon advantages compared to traditional long-process methods. The products will cover high-end varieties such as steel for NEVs and high-performance corrosion-resistant steel. This project is a crucial step for Yunfu in building a 100-billion-yuan-level metal intelligent manufacturing industrial cluster. Along with major projects such as the China Resources Xijiang Power Plant that will come into operation simultaneously, it will provide strong impetus for the high-quality development of the local economy.
