Australia invests $44.9 million to build a zero-emission steel plant

The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) recently announced an investment of $44.9 million to support green technology company Calix in building a demonstration plant that utilizes Zero Emission Steel Technology (ZESTY). This demonstration plant will leverage renewable energy electricity and hydrogen to produce up to 30,000 mt of hydrogen direct reduced iron (DRI) and hot briquetted iron (HBI) annually.
